Metropolitan and Peterborough Spring Regattas
The club had two very hot days of racing across two locations as our Senior Women headed down to Dorney Lake and our Men, Juniors and Masters took a slightly shorter trip down to Peterborough, for the Metropolitan and Peterborough Spring Regattas.
Despite the baking heat, we had two days of very successful racing!
At the Met, our women’s eight had a solid race on both days coming 2nd in the G Final on the Saturday and 7th in the E Final on the Sunday. Similarly our women’s coxed four had a good row on the Saturday coming 7th in the C Final and stepped onto 8th in the B Final on Sunday.
Both crews set encouraging performances, especially as conditions changes across lanes in the later half of the day on Sunday.
While we had big boats with our women’s crews, Isaac showed his talent yet again with a blistering 2nd place in the Open 2x event in a Leeds / Leander composite, and on the Sunday coming 1st in the B final in the Open 1x event.
Away from Dorney Lake, we also had a huge trailer load of boats racing on the Saturday of Peterborough Spring. We had 35 crews entered and ended up in 20 finals including 5 wins! On top of that, the club secured the Saturday VL (note to club - do the two days next time!).
Wins at Peterborough Spring Regatta - J14 4x+ (Alchorne), Op 4-, WJ18 2x (Marks), Op 8+ B1, J15 4x+ (Jones)
A huge thanks to both Craig and Ciaran for some mammoth towing and logistic efforts across both days, to everyone who raced and to the volunteers, coaches and supporters!
