Henley Royal Regatta
Henley Royal Regatta you were amazing. What a week of racing for club members current and old.
First a huge well done to our Princess Elizabeth crew - our first ever PE qualifiers - who did the club proud. A tough race against Shrewsbury School, one of the seeded crews in the event, but the boys did well.
All are back again for another go next season, so we’re only going to go faster.
Second take a bow Isaac! Pre-qualifying in the Prince of Wales, then getting through to the Friday. A huge well done to you and the rest of the crew on a great performance against the U23 quad who were the event winners. We’re looking forward to where your rowing goes next!
A special well done to junior coaches Charley Faint who qualified for the Danesfield Challenge Cup for St Andrews, and Bligh Henshilwood and Charlie Drew for being the fastest non-qualifying crew in the Prince Albert Challenge Cup as Leeds Uni.
It was incredibly special for us as a club was to see so many former Leeds RC athletes and coxes doing so well at the regatta.
Katie Mole - finalist in the Princess of Wales Challenge Trophy for Birmingham Uni
Ben Newton - finalist in the Visitors Challenge Cup for Leander
Sam Moloney - semi-finalist in the Wyfold Challenge Cup for Molesey
Dan Jones - heat of the Queen Mother Challenge Cup for Leander
Matt Parry - heat of the Thames Challenge Cup for Cantabrigian
Finally it was just great to see so many club members at the regatta over the course of the week, and to see so many current and former members meeting up.
