Learn to Row / Cox |
|
|
Like any sport, you are likely to enjoy it more if you get a good quality introduction to the technique involved. To help this process, the club runs regular Learn to Row programmes for groups of people completely new to the sport. There is a one-off charge for these programmes and there is no obligation to join afterwards.
The programmes last for 5 sessions of about an hour and currently cost £50 (£30 is then credited to an annual membership if you decide to join). During these sessions you will learn to the fundamentals of the rowing stroke in a fun environment with like-minded people. For dates of up-coming learn to programmes go to the membership page and email the club.
Maybe you like the idea of the sport of rowing, but would rather not actually row. Perhaps you might like to give coxing a try. Coxing is more than just steering – it is also about coaching, leadership, team development and organisation. It is a pivotal role and our club is always looking for keen people to get involved in coxing. If you are interested in learning how to cox why not drop Amy a line. JuniorsWhy Rowing? It’s fun, you can do it on your own or in a team and you don’t have to have great hand-eye co-ordination to be good at it. Lots of people who don’t enjoy traditional sports at school like football and rugby absolutely love rowing. We are creating a friendly environment where you can have fun and learn new skills at the same time.
We have a growing junior membership. Our rowers are currently aged between 13 and 16 but if you are aged 11 or over and fancy having a go at a great sport then contact Amy to arrange to time to come and have a look around. |
